Donating to FIDA

Dollar Academy has long been at the forefront of education in Scotland.

The Futures Institute at Dollar Academy – FIDA – is our compelling alternative to traditional classroom teaching and exams, designed to complement the traditional SQA offering.

FIDA also has its own qualification – the International Sustainability Diploma, equivalent to a Higher – which was successfully piloted in schools around Scotland in the 2024/25 session, and is now being delivered in 14 schools in the 2025/26 session.

FIDA Courses

All FIDA courses and challenges have the following features:

  • They involve interdisciplinary project-based learning.
  • They are co-developed with industry and university partners.
  • They are designed to develop skills for life and work beyond school.
  • They require pupils to think creatively and draw upon different areas of knowledge and learning in order to solve real-world problems.
  • They offer alternative ways to demonstrate and measure attainment.
  • They tackle real-world problems rooted in the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Crucially, they are free to any young person who wishes to access them.

To date, thousands of pupils and teachers from across Scotland, and further afield, have benefited from FIDA resources – around 15% from Dollar Academy and 85% from local authority schools – all entirely free of charge.

Gift Aid

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a big difference.

As a valued donor you will receive regular communications from the school as well as invitations to events as appropriate and most importantly, as agreed with you.

Furthermore, as a registered charity, the Gift Aid scheme allows you to offset the tax on any size of donation you make. Just complete the form and submit it along with your donation.
