Cricket

As one of the principal sports here at Dollar, our cricket facilities are well-resourced for any pupil looking for an introduction to the sport or to build on their existing skills.

Boys and girls who are keen cricketers are welcome to make the most of our first-class facilities and excellent coaching. They can get involved in competitive or recreational play at any point in their time here, from Junior 1 all the way up to Form VI.

Overview

Whether pupils are picking up a bat for the very first time or they are well on their way to representing their country, cricket is an outstanding co-curricular choice here at Dollar.

Our cricket programme welcomes boys and girls from Junior 1 through to Form VI, offering the chance to engage in both competitive and recreational play. Our outstanding facilities are perfectly suited to any pupil looking for an introduction to the sport or to build on existing skills.

As well as being an enjoyable sport to play, cricket teaches positive virtues such as teamwork, performing under pressure, and sportsmanship. Matches take place in the summer term, but there is year-round activity with year group coaching continuing through the winter in our 6-lane indoor facility with bowling machine.

Fixtures

Matches take place in the summer term, but there is year-round activity with high-quality individualised coaching through the winter, pre-season training, and trips abroad. Coaching can be highly technical, utilising video analysis and a range of teaching tools.

Recently Dollar entered a new partnership with Cricket Scotland, becoming the National training centre for U15, U17 and U19 Boys and Girls national teams. This is a huge opportunity to keep advancing cricket at Dollar in the coming years.

We are committed to providing a full fixture list for our six boys and two girls teams with games scheduled between April and late June. The season includes the chance for players to take part in the Scottish Independent Schools U15 and U18 Cups and the Scottish 6’s Competition.

Periodically, pupils are given the opportunity to broaden their cricketing experiences and develop their knowledge of the game in other countries. For example our Form I – III pupils recently toured Kenya.
