Andrew Whalley (FP 1980) awarded OBE

Congratulations to Andrew Whalley (FP 1980) who received an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s New Year Honours List 2022. The honour, awarded in the international list, recognises Andrew’s services to architecture and environmental sustainability.

Andrew is the Chairman of Grimshaw, a leading architecture, planning and industrial design practice with offices in Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Dubai, Melbourne and Sydney. He has worked on many award-winning projects including the International Terminal at Waterloo in London; Eden Project in Cornwall; the redevelopment of the historic Paddington Station in London; the Experimental and Performing Arts Center in Troy, New York, USA; the Fulton Center in New York, USA and the design and delivery of Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion – for Expo 2020 Dubai.

Andrew was elected to the AIA College of Fellows for Design in 2019 and awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from his alma mater, The Glasgow School of Art. The Consortium for Sustainable Urbanisation honoured Andrew with their 2021 Champion Award.
