Dollar Academy is delighted to partner with Gleneagles to offer an exceptional Golf Programme, which caters for all abilities.
This collaboration, between two renowned Scottish institutions, will allow pupils at the school to experience world-class golf coaching at Gleneagles, coupled with an outstanding education.
Overview
Golf is a popular activity at Dollar, with around 100 boys and girls playing each year.
Students on the Dollar Academy Golf Programme benefit from unparalleled access to the PGA National Golf Academy at Gleneagles, where world-class facilities meet elite coaching expertise. Delivered by leading PGA professionals, the programme provides highly personalised coaching tailored to each player’s ambitions and performance goals.
We have advanced players, who represent both the school and their countries in national and international competitions, through to complete beginners. Golfers at Dollar have the opportunity to go on a number of international trips and tours, most recently to the US, Canada, Dubai and a winter training camp in Spain.
Sector-leading facilities
Cutting-edge technology underpins player development. Indoor training bays and advanced performance tools including TrackMan, Toptracer and Capto deliver precise, objective feedback – from full swing mechanics to putting performance. Built on a high-performance philosophy, the PGA Academy mirrors the standards of leading international training environments. It combines technical excellence, competitive exposure and holistic athlete development to nurture talented young golfers and prepare them for success at the highest levels.
Alongside access to Gleneagles and the PGA facilities – located 20 minutes from the school campus – golfers benefit from outstanding on-site facilities at Dollar, including four driving bays, an indoor simulator and a 9-hole course on the edge of the School Campus.
The school also features a swimming pool, fitness suite and dedicated Strength & Conditioning gym, supporting complete athletic development. Pupils may also work with a recommended sports psychologist, ensuring a fully rounded performance support network. Golfers additionally enjoy membership at Muckhart Golf Club, home to three 9-hole heathland courses just five minutes from Dollar.
Programme Structure
The Dollar Academy Golf Programme at Gleneagles consists of four tiers: Access, Development, Performance and High Performance.
All coaching is delivered by PGA professionals, and all members of the Programme receive full Gleneagles Golf Club membership.
High Performance Tier – The High Performance tier represents the pinnacle of the programme, designed for elite amateur and aspiring professional golfers with a handicap of below 5. Performance tier players operate within a truly high-performance environment.
Performance Tier – Designed for golfers with a handicap of 12 or below, the Performance tier focuses on sharpening competitive performance and developing advanced scoring skills.
Development Tier – The Development tier supports higher handicap golfers in building consistency and translating technical skills into reliable on-course performance.
Access Tier – The Access tier provides an inclusive entry point into the programme for beginner and developing golfers who are new to the game or building foundational skills.
Fixtures
There are a wide range of golf fixtures and competitive playing opportunities available to pupils throughout the academic year.
All fixtures and events are published on the school calendar (SOCS) and shared through Microsoft Teams, ensuring pupils have clear and up-to-date information throughout the season. Pupils wishing to participate in fixtures are asked to sign up in advance to indicate their availability, with teams and pairings selected accordingly.
Our fixture programme includes both inter-school matches and a comprehensive programme of internal competitions exclusive to Dollar Academy pupils. These events are played across a variety of outstanding courses throughout Scotland.
