A New Sports Village for Dollar
Dollar Academy is developing an exciting new Sports Village on the southern edge of Dollar, designed to benefit both the school and the wider community. The development will create modern, high-quality sports facilities that support everyday physical activity, competitive sport and community use for years to come.
Facilities
The new Sports Village will include synthetic rugby, football and hockey pitches, covered padel courts, improved parking and a contemporary two-storey sports pavilion. The pavilion will provide changing rooms, viewing terraces, social and event spaces, accessible facilities and areas for community gatherings.
Design and Aim
The design has been carefully planned to reflect the character of Dollar and its surrounding landscape. Natural materials, generous glazing and strong links to the outdoor spaces will create a welcoming environment for players, spectators and visitors alike. The building has been designed to sit comfortably within its setting while offering modern, sustainable facilities that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
A key aim of the project is inclusivity. The Sports Village is being designed to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, with safe pedestrian routes, accessible changing provision and flexible spaces suitable for clubs, classes, events and community activities beyond school hours.
Impact
The development will also improve connections between the site, the Academy and the wider town, including links to the Devon Way walking and cycling route. By encouraging active travel and providing enhanced community sports facilities, the project aims to support healthier lifestyles and strengthen community engagement across Dollar and the surrounding area.
