Badminton
Badminton is a great way to stay active, improve skills, and enjoy the sport in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Pupils interested in joining are welcome to come along and take part – whether for competition or just for fun!
Overview
Senior Badminton is open to all pupils in Form II–VI and takes place every Friday after school.
Running throughout the entire year, the club provides a welcoming environment for players of all levels, from beginners to those seeking coaching and match practice. With four courts regularly in use, sessions offer a mix of structured play and social games.
Facilities
Held in the Games Hall, the club caters to both social and competitive players.
Doubles and half-court singles ladders are often organised, allowing pupils to develop their skills in a friendly yet competitive setting. Players rotate on and off the court when sessions are busy, ensuring everyone gets plenty of time to play.
All equipment is provided, though pupils are welcome to bring their own racquets if they prefer. Changing facilities are available, and school PE kit is required.
Coaching
Coaching is led by Miss McLean, a Badminton Scotland Level 1 coach.
Feedback and guidance are always available for those looking to improve their game, with coaching seamlessly integrated into sessions. Pupils who prefer a more relaxed approach can simply enjoy playing socially.
