Skiing
Over the course of the school year, our Ski Club offers lessons to complete beginners (first block of lessons only) working all the way towards parallel skiing in the final block after Easter.
Regular sessions take place at Firpark Ski Centre in Tillicoultry – a ten-minute minibus journey from school.
The Prep School club is open to Prep 4 and 5, while Junior 1 to Form VI pupils are welcome after school on Mondays. Attendance is by prior booking only – each six-week block of lessons has a strict capacity of 12 skiers.
Facilities
Firpark Ski Centre is in the heart of Clackmannanshire, providing snow sports activities to the highest standard by qualified and friendly instructors.
They have a very well-maintained 120 metre artificial ski slope with a Poma ski tow. Skis, poles, boots and helmets are included in our weekly hire, although some pupils have their own snowsports-specific helmet.
Coaching
Every lesson is led by an experienced and qualified member of the Instructor team from Firpark Ski Centre, assisted by a member of school staff.
The pupils are awarded Firpark Certificates at the end of each block of lessons to indicate the Skiing Level they have attained.
Achievements
Each year, pupils progress from complete beginners to being able to ski confidently and in control from the top of the Firpark slope, with some achieving Level 3+ or even Level 4 by the end of the school year.
51 Form III pupils (many of whom started skiing in our Ski Club) and 7 staff enjoyed an excellent Ski Tour to Les Menuires in the 3 Valleys Ski Area in the French Alps in February 2025. Pupils should listen in Form Class for the announcement of future Ski Tours.
