Wrap Around Care
I would like to welcome you to Dollar Academy Wrap Around Care. We are a new provision offering before and after school care for Dollar Academy pupils and are very much looking forward to welcoming the children into our new setting. We are based in the Dining Hall and open to pupils from Prep 1 to Form I, with the option to accommodate older pupils if required. The team comprises of Cat Fraser, Wrap Around Care Manager, Kathleen Bunyan, and Tina Wilson, who are both Teaching Assistants at Dollar Academy.
We believe in providing a nurturing, safe and secure environment, providing experiences and activities which are child-led, fun, educational and age-appropriate. We also value the importance of outdoor learning and play and will provide the opportunity for outside activities and play as much as possible.
– Cat Fraser, Wrap Around Care Manager
Aims and Objectives
Dollar Academy Wrap Around Care aims to offer a sustainable childcare setting which will grow to meet the childcare needs of the local community in the long term. Our aim is to provide high quality childcare in a warm and stimulating environment and to ensure each child feels happy and secure.
We are closely aligned with Dollar Academy’s ethos of ‘work hard, be kind, and get involved’ to create a positive environment to support children to learn and develop to their full potential.
We treat all children as individuals and ensure that each child has equal opportunities. We respect each child’s individual background and diversity, treating them with equality and respect, and encourage the other children in our care to do the same.
Our aims and objectives are:
· To work in partnership with parents
· To provide a high-quality environment with enriching experiences
· To promote both child and parent participation in the ongoing planning, development and evaluation of services
· To ensure that resources are matched to the needs and wants of the children
· To promote equal opportunities and inclusion
· To encourage and provide opportunities for staff development
Session Times
To best meet the needs of children and parents, we have a range of session times available to book.
Session 1: End of school day to 4.30pm
Session 2: 4.30pm – 5.30pm
Session 3: 5.30 – 6pm
Sessions are to be booked on a block booking basis, with blocks covering each half-term of the school year. Payment must be made at the start of each half-term to secure your place(s). Children attending an after school co-curricular activity and then attending Wrap Around Care are only charged for the session(s) they attend.
The cost of each session is as follows:
Session 1 and 2: £10 per session per child
Session 3: £5 per session per child
Food and Nutrition
We have different options available for the provision of snacks and meals, dependent on which session(s) children are attending.
All children who are attending a session at the end of the school day will be offered a snack, the cost of which is included in the booking fee
Snacks are healthy and nutritious and will typically consist of one starchy carb and two fruit or vegetable options. A copy of the snack menu for each week will be displayed on the Wrap Around Care noticeboard.
Children who attend morning sessions will have the option to have breakfast. Children who are attending after school and remaining in the provision after 5pm have the option to have a hot meal.
Meals must be booked and paid for in advance by parents at the time of booking sessions.
Allergies will be catered for – our aim is for our menus to be relatively low in typical allergens (e.g. we use dairy free spreads) but where a child has an allergy to an item on offer, they will be offered a substitute in line with their Health Care Plan. The same applies to children with specific dietary requirements.
