Human rights are at the core of the work that Dollar’s Amnesty International Youth Group engage with each week. This term, they have learned more about incorporation of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child into Scottish Law. The group have focused on how they can enjoy their rights and what their responsibilities are as global citizens.
The focus for Human Rights Day is the Amnesty ‘Write for Rights’ campaign, which focuses on specific individuals and how their rights have been violated across the world. This year, our Amnesty group cannot host their usual ‘Amnestea’ party to raise awareness, so instead, they have created posters to display around the school. These posters also inform pupils on how they can get involved with the cause. All pupils are encouraged to take action, get involved and make a difference.
Our Amnesty International Youth Group takes place on Mondays after school. For more information about the club, please see Mrs Taylor in the English department.
