Teacher of Physics

The Academy is seeking a capable, forward-thinking and enthusiastic teacher to join an ambitious and successful Physics department.

Dollar Academy has been a co-educational day and boarding school since its foundation in 1818. Today, it provides an exceptional all-round education to around 1,350 pupils aged 5-18. Our focus is on encouraging the individual talents and ambitions of every young person, in a positive and supportive environment that fosters the development of transferable skills, self-confidence and strong personal values. The Academy is seeking a capable, forward-thinking and enthusiastic teacher to join an ambitious and successful department comprising four members of Physics teaching staff and a dedicated part-time support technician. The person appointed to this post should have experience of teaching a range of SQA Physics courses or equivalent, although applications from newly-qualified teachers are also welcomed. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a genuine love of the subject, the ability to plan lessons rich in practical work and will have an imaginative, creative and energetic approach to helping their pupils succeed.

The Physics department currently offers Nat 5, Higher and AH Physics. They also help deliver the Junior School and Form I Science courses. A range of modules are also available for FVI pupils – these include Medical Physics and Practical Lab Skills. A willingness to take on a varied range of classes is preferable.

The full-time post will commence in August 2024 and will be for one year.

The Academy has a rich co-curricular programme in which all members of staff are expected to participate.

The salary for the post will be SNCT Main Grade Scale with the Dollar enhancement of 10% in addition.
