Don Caskie, our Director of Rugby and also the current Head Coach for Scotland’s U17s, heads up our 14-member-strong coaching team. Don is a former Gloucester and Scotland A centre who brings a wealth of coaching experience. He’s trained teams at every international age-grade level in major European and World Cup Competitions, including the Georgian National Team (including the Rugby World Cup 2011).
Together, our coaches help deliver one of the most forward-thinking and progressive programmes of its kind in Scotland – committed to developing the complete player. It’s this player-centred approach that allows the budding internationalist to thrive and even the most casual recreational player shine on the pitch. All this good practice is further underlined by our onsite physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coach. Our campus holds no fewer than eight pitches to accommodate our 14 teams.
Fixtures are scheduled between August and March. The season includes the chance for players to take part in the Scottish Conference League and world-famous Rosslyn Park National Sevens in London. Every two years, boys are given the opportunity to export their skills overseas and broaden their game-IQ with exposure to players in other countries. Recently toured destinations include Italy, Argentina and South Africa.
On that international note, the growing list of former pupils who have gone on to play senior rugby for Scotland includes Rory Lawson, Graeme Morrison and former Scotland Captain, John Barclay.
